massage THERAPY License Requirements

Illinois: Licensed Massage Therapists are required to have 25 hours of continuing education, including:

• 2 Hours of ETHICS

• 1 hour of Sexual Harassment Prevention

• 1 Hour of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Awareness

• Proof of completion of THE 1 HOUR SKIN CANCER AND MELANOMA AWARENESS ONLINE COURSE;‘SKINNY ON SKIN’, By Impact Melanoma.

  renewal is every 2 years, on even years, with a renewal fee of $175.00.

  Illinois therapists will need to renew before December 29, 2026 by going to www.idfPR.com 

  **Please note the Illinois Massage Therapy Practice Act was updated to reflect a new continuing education requirement, adding one hour of CE for domestic violence and sexual assault, resulting in a total of 25 total required continuing education hours.

MISSOURI: Licensed Massage Therapists are required to have 12 hours of continuing education.  Missouri renewal is every 2 years with a renewal fee of $125.00. Missouri therapist will need to renew before January 31, 2026 by going to www.pr.mo.gov/massage

24-hours of Continuing Education from NCBTMB Approved Providers
-3 hours must be in Ethics
-NCBTMB approved scientific, anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and business courses may also be applied
-All courses must be completed within your eligible two-year Renewal period
-CE cannot be used multiple times within or across renewal periods and cannot be carried over. (If you renew late, your CE must be dated after your late renewal approval date.)
-Pass a criminal background check (performed by NCBTMB)
-Agree to uphold NCBTMB Standards of Practice & Code of Ethics
-$110 Application & Renewal Fee
-ReNEW ONLINE Login to ncbtmb.org using your username and password
Click “Renewal” from Dashboard Quick Links Menu
Select “Board Certification Renewal” Application
Submit completed form
